NOPD Investigating North Miro Street Homicide

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (August 9, 2021) in the 1800 block of North Miro Street.

At around 1:05 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers were patrolling the area when they heard shots fired.  As officers were responding, 911 dispatchers alerted them to an aggravated battery by shooting in the same location where the victims, a male and female, were being transported to the hospital by private conveyance.  The adult male victim (DOB: 2/18/93) passed away at the hospital, while the juvenile female victim (15 YO) is expected to survive. 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.  No additional details are available at this time. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
