NOPD Investigating Deadly Shubert Street Shooting

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred today (August 8, 2011) in the 7700 block of Shubert Street leaving three people injured and one person dead.

At around 6:10p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting call at the location.  Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims suffering with gunshot wounds.  EMS transported all three to the hospital.  A fourth victim, who arrived at the hospital by private conveyance, was later determined to be involved in the incident.  The victims consist of two adult males and two adult females.  One man (DOB:2/24/84) was pronounced dead. 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.  No additional details are available at this time. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
