NOPD Investigating a Deadly Shooting in the Fifth District

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred today (August 16, 2021) at the intersection of Louisa Street and Higgins Boulevard. 

At around 1:15 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting call at the location.  Upon arrival, officers found an adult female inside of a vehicle suffering with a gunshot wound(s).  EMS transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.    

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.  No additional details are available at this time. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
