NOPD Identifies Suspect in Fifth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Kevin Lucas Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-26-1982) in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on July 11, 2021 in the 2100 block of North Claiborne Avenue.

Through investigation, NOPD Fifth District detectives determined that at about 1:05 a.m., Lucas became engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. Lucas is then believed to have produced a firearm and shot the victim, striking him in the lower body twice before fleeing the scene.

When located, Lucas will be arrested for aggravated battery by shooting and illegal use of a firearm.
