NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD today (August 25, 2021) arrested Bernard C. Nwubah (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-20-1982) in the investigation of a homicide on August 14, 2021 in the 2600 block of Dumaine Street.

At about 5:40 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a male down at the location. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS. On August 16, the victim was declared deceased.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Isaac Johnson.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Nwubah as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

Nwubah was located today and apprehended without incident. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Unit Det. Lucretia Gantner at 504-658-5300.
