NOPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between August 8-14

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between August 8-14, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Sharod J. Williams (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-01-1985) for second-degree murder. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of France Street on June 16.

Shootings

  • On August 8, NOPD First District officers arrested Joshua Edwards (photo not available, black male, DOB: 02-13-1992) for aggravated battery by shooting, illegal use of a weapon, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property. The incident occurred at North Villere and Conti streets on August 8.
  • On August 10, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jayla Peabody (photo not available, black female, DOB: 01-15-2000 for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred at in the 12300 block of North I-10- Service Road on August 9.
  • On August 10, NOPD Third District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Paul Armstrong (photo not available, black male, DOB: 10-26-1986) for two counts of aggravated battery by shooting and aggravated criminal damage to property. The incident occurred in the 3100 block of Elysian Fields Avenue on August 10.
  • On August 11, NOPD Fourth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for a 15-year-old juvenile male (photo not available) for aggravated battery by shooting, illegal discharge of a firearm, possession of stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Southlawn Boulevard on August 10.

Armed Robbery

  • On August 13, NOPD’s Sixth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Anthony Moss (photo not available, black male, DOB: 03-30-1971) for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 3000 block of Toledano Street on August 13.
