UPDATE: NOPD Arrests Suspect in Third District Aggravated Assault

UPDATE: On August 13, 2020, an arrest was made in this investigation:

Terry Renard (picture attached, male, DOB: 05-08-1968) was arrested as the suspected perpetrator in this incident.

Renard was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated assault.

 

ORIGINAL: The NOPD is seeking assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in the investigation of an aggravated assault that occurred on August 11, 2020 at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Interstate 610.

At about 8:50 p.m., an RTA bus driver was operating a bus in the listed area when an unknown male subject who was a passenger on the bus approached the plexiglass screen surrounding the driver. The subject reportedly produced a knife and begin banging on the plexiglass and threatening the driver. The male exited the bus at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Gentilly Boulevard.

Surveillance video of the suspect in this incident can be viewed below.

The subject is further described as standing about 5’8” and 5’9” and was seen wearing a gray short, jeans and a brown bucket hat.
