The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred today (August 5, 2020) near the intersection of Poland Aveune and North Miro Street that left one driver dead.
At about 4:49 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon investigation, it was determined that an 18-weeler traveling south on Poland Avenue was attempting to turn east onto North Miro Street when, for reasons unknown, a silver Kia sedan also traveling south on Poland Avenue crashed into the rear of the 18-wheeler's trailer. The driver of the Kia, identified as an adult female, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
