NOPD Investigating Homicide, Shooting on Read Boulevard

NOPD Investigating Homicide, Shooting on Read Boulevard

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that occurred this evening, August 11, 2020 in the 7300 block of Read Boulevard that left an adult female victim dead and an adult male victim injured.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Both victims, suffering from a gunshot wound(s) were transported to an area hospital via private conveyance. The female victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The male victim was listed in stable condition.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive. No further information is available at this time.  

 

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the decedent’s official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
