NOPD Investigates Traffic Fatality in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that claimed the life of an adult male in the Fourth District.

On August 11, 2019 around 10:45 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of General Meyer Avenue and Woodland Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim deceased at the location.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that an adult female was traveling eastbound on General Meyer Avenue, crossing Woodland Drive, when the victim stepped into the road and was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. No drug and alcohol impairment were suspected.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. There are no further details available at this time.
