NOPD VOWS Officers Arrest Suspect in St. Tammany Parish Shooting

On August 20, 2018, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Maurice Williams (DOB: 08-17-1987), who is a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred in St. Tammany Parish.

Based on an investigation in regards to a shooting that occurred in July 2018 near the unincorporated area of the parish, Williams was developed as a suspect in the incident. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were able to track Williams to a residence in the 5000 block of Toulon Street, located in the NOPD’s Seventh District. NOPD detectives prepared a search warrant for the location to assist St. Tammany Parish investigators. NOPD VOWS officers served the warrant, at which time Williams was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant in St. Tammany Parish for the shooting incident.

During the search, officers discovered multiple guns and ammunition, as well as narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia. With this discovery, NOPD Seventh District detectives additionally charged Williams with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carry of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I CDS
