The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that claimed the life of an adult male motorcyclist.
At around 8:10 p.m., Fifth District officers received a call about an adult male that fell from the Claiborne Bridge and landed near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Japonica Street. Through the course of the investigation, NOPD Traffic investigators determined that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the Claiborne bridge when for unknown reasons struck the guardrail and landed on the ground level.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
