The NOPD has arrested Joann McDaniel (DOB: 05-04-1992) in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Tajana Williams that occurred on August 21, 2018 in the 2900 block of Ursula Spencer Way.

McDaniel turned herself in to NOPD today (August 22, 2018) at the NOPD Homicide Unit office. McDaniel was subsequently booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder.

At around 11:43 p.m. on August 21, NOPD Fifth District officers were in the area when they heard the sound of a gunshot. Officers immediately responded to the 2900 block of Ursula Spencer Way. Upon arrival, they found a young adult female lying on the ground in the street. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. EMS rendered medical treatment to the victim, however she subcummed to her injury and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Upon further investigation, detectives developed and positively identified McDaniel as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for her arrest for second degree murder in connection with this incident.
