NOPD Arrests Subject in Sixth District Auto Burglaries

NOPD officers have arrested Charles Berry (DOB: 05/26/1959) in connection with two auto burglaries that occurred in the Sixth District.

The first incident occurred at or around 2:30 a.m. on March 31, 2018. The victim told police that he parked his blue 2013 Nissan Versa in the 1400 block of Saint Andrew Street. Upon returning to the location at or around 10 a.m. on the aforementioned date, the victim observed the front passenger window had been shattered and various items were scattered across the interior of the vehicle.

The second incident occurred at or around 8 p.m. on July 20, 2018. The victim told police that he parked his 2006 Chrysler 300 in front of his residence, located in the 1000 block of Fourth Street. Upon returning to the location at or around 3 p.m. on July 22, 2018, the victim observed the glass on the rear passenger door was shattered and the interior portion of the vehicle ransacked.

During the course of the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance video from the 1400 block of Saint Andrew Street and was able to positively identify Berry as the perpetrator in the aforementioned auto burglaries. Berry was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he was booked accordingly.
