Two Arrested After Marijuana Plants Found at Belleville Street Residence

A Crimestoppers tip led NOPD Fourth District detectives and Special Operations Division officers today (August 17, 2017) to arrested Sarah Sylve (DOB: 09-18-1987) and Amber Walker (DOB: 06-03-1987) for cultivation and possession of marijuana.

After receiving a tip through Crimestoppers that illegal drugs were being sold and cultivated from a residence in the 600 block of Belleville Street, NOPD officers conducting surveillance observed plants appearing to be marijuana plants standing over the residence’s fence line. Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant on the residence, discovering five mature cannabis plants in the back yard of the residence, capable of producing 12 grams of marijuana per plant, as well as paraphernalia commonly used in the packaging of marijuana for distribution inside a shed on the property.

Based on the situation and evidence found in execution of the search warrant, officers arrested both residents of the location – identified as Sylve and Walker – and booked each into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on charges of possession and cultivation of marijuana.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
