Person of Interest Sought in Attempted Armed Robbery on North I-10 Service Road

The NOPD is seeking to speak with an individual considered to be a person of interest in an attempted armed robbery that occurred on August 15, 2017 in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road.

The victim told police that at about 9:45 p.m., he was returning to his residence after purchasing items from a grocery store. As he approached his doorstep, he heard a voice from behind tell him to get on the ground and to hand over his money. The suspect acted as if he were complying with the unknown perpetrator, but then turned around and engaged in a struggle with the perpetrator. The victim realized the perpetrator had a black revolver handgun in his possession and grabbed the gun in an attempt to take it. During the struggle, both men fell to the ground and the perpetrator allegedly shot the victim in the lower right thigh. The perpetrator then fled the scene in an unknown direction, but did not take any money or items from the victim.

The victim was then transported to an area hospital via private conveyance by an unknown subject for treatment of his injuries. Investigators learned that the vehicle that transported the victim was registered to Quintas Jones (DOB: 09-13-1983).

The victim described the perpetrator as a light-skinned black male standing about 6’0” tall and between 19 and 24 years of age.

Jones is being sought for questioning, as detectives believe he may have valuable information regarding this incident. Jones is not wanted as a suspect in this incident.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Quintas Jones is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
