NOPD VOWS Unit Arrests Two Suspects in Respective Incidents
On August 23, 2017, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offenders Warrant Squad arrested two suspects in connection with respective incidents. They include:

Timothy Barnett (DOB: 07-31-1995), arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on July 7, 2017 in the 7900 block of Dorsett Drive. Just before 11:45 p.m., the victim was driving and had stopped at a stop sign when he looked up and observed a black male dressed in long dreadlocks approach from the front and fire several gunshots at the victim, striking him in the lower waist area. The victim was transported via private conveyance to an area hospital for treatment. As investigation into the incident progressed, Seventh District detectives were able to develop Barnett as the perpetrator. Barnett booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for attempted first degree murder in this incident. Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.

Michael Moses (DOB: 04-10-1978), arrested in connection with a simple robbery that occurred in the 1800 block of Elysian Fields Avenue on August 21, 2017. The victim told police that she was exiting a public bus near the intersection of North Roman and Elysian Fields avenues when she noticed her boyfriend, identified as Moses, standing behind a vehicle near the adjacent corner. As the victim walked north on Elysian Fields Avenue she passed Moses, who then allegedly struck her in the head with a closed fist, causing the victim to fall to the ground. Moses then allegedly demanded money from the victim. When the victim did not comply, Moses reportedly took the victim’s purse, removed money and the victim’s house key and fled on Elysian Fields Avenue. Moses was located and arrested on August 23. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of simple robbery. Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050.
