NOPD Investigating Fatal Double Shooting on Tupelo Street

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that occurred today (August 1, 2017) in the 1000 block of Tupelo Street and claimed the life of one of the victims.

Just before 6 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to call a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim inside of a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives discovered a second victim in this incident who arrived at an area hospital by private conveyance for treatment of gunshot wound injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death for the deceased victim and release the deceased victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
