NOPD Investigates Homicide on South Prieur Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on South Prieur Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an unknown adult male victim.

At around 9:17 p.m., Second District officers responded to calls of shots fired at the intersection of General Taylor and South Prieur Streets. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the 4200 block of South Prieur Street.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
