NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place in the 1800 block of Old Roman Street.
Today, August 20, 2017 at around 1:22 a.m., Fifth district officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Old Roman Street to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 39-year-old male lying face down on the ground in the grass. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound(s) to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death.
