LSP Arrests Suspect Linked to Multiple Property Crimes by NOPD Detectives

A suspect arrested on July 30, 2017 by Louisiana State Police for driving a stolen vehicle has been linked to and arrested in additional property crimes in the Seventh District.

On July 30, State Police troopers arrested Malik Jenkins (DOB: 01-09-1997) after he was found to be driving a vehicle that was reported stolen. Upon apprehending the subject, troopers found that Jenkins was wanted by the NOPD for an auto burglary incident in the 6500 block of Morrison Road on March 1, 2017.  At the time of his arrest, Jenkins was also found to be in possession of a firearm which was reported stolen from the same vehicle burglary incident.

Based on recovered evidence, NOPD detectives later developed Jenkins as the perpetrator in two additional auto burglaries that occurred on May 14, 2017 – one in the 4700 block of Rosalia Drive and another in the 4800 block of Rosalia Drive.

In total, Jenkins was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for three counts of simple burglary, one count each of illegal possession of a stolen automobile, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated flight from an officer and unauthorized use of a moveable. Jenkins also had a warrant for his arrest from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
