NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 3800 block of Canal Street that left one victim dead and a second injured.

At about 8:20 p.m., NOPD First District detectives responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, they located two adult gunshot wound victims on scene - an adult male who was declared deceased on scene and an adult female who was transported via EMS to a local hospital. The female victim was last listed in stable condition.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
