NOPD Identifies Suspects in Seventh District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has obtained arrest warrants for Cantrell D. Penny (pictured at left, black male, DOB: 05-11-1976) and Jasmine McGraw (pictured at right, black female, DOB: 08-28-1992) in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on April 23, 2023, in the 4900 block of Rhodes Drive.

At about 10:40 p.m., the victim and a female subject were reportedly involved in an altercation that escalated. The female subject then allegedly called for a male subject, who came upon the scene armed with a handgun and reportedly fired several shots, grazing the victim. The suspects then reportedly fled the scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Seventh District detectives positively identified both Penny and McGraw as the perpetrators in this incident and obtained arrest warrants for each.

Penny is wanted on a charge of aggravated second-degree battery and illegal carry/discharge of a weapon. McGraw is charged with principle to aggravated second-degree battery, theft of a motor vehicle and for criminal damage to property.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
