NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday (April 11, 2022) in the 5000 block of Leroy Johnson Drive that left one person deceased.

At about 9:03 p.m. on April 11, NOPD Third District officers were notified and responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of Leroy Johnson and Lakeshore drives. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim seated in a vehicle and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased. The signal was then changed to a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will officially identify the victim and determine cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
