NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between March 27-April 2

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between March 27-April 2, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On March 30, the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Joshua Taylor (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-25-2003) for second-degree murder. The arrest was in connection with a homicide incident on March 16 in the 4700 block of West Adams Court.
  • On March 30, NOPD Homicide detectives announced that a warrant had been obtained for the arrest of William Powell III for second-degree murder. The warrant is in connection to a homicide incident on March 19 in the 3000 block of South Saratoga Street. Anyone with information on Powell’s whereabouts is asked to call Homicide Det. Michael Haynes at 504-658-5300 or Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP (7867).
  • On March 30, NOPD Special Operations Division officers arrested Tyrone Steel (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-05-2003) on four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count each of simple criminal damage to property, illegal carrying of weapons and illegal use of a weapon. The arrests were made in connection with a homicide by shooting on March 21 in the 4100 block of Encampment Street, a homicide by shooting on March 26 at the intersection of Morrison and Gannon roads and for a shooting on February 27 in the 3800 block of St. Bernard Avenue.

Shooting

  • On March 27, NOPD Second District officers arrested Shane McShane (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-04-1998) for attempted murder. Subsequently, on April 1, Second District detectives arrested Andre Dunn (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-15-2003) for attempted second-degree murder. The arrests were in connection with an aggravated battery by shooting incident on February 11, 2022, in the 3600 block of Hollygrove Street.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On March 29, NOPD Third District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Maceo Roberts (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-24-1999) for armed robbery. The warrant is in connection with an armed robbery incident on March 29 in the 4900 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Anyone with information on Roberts' whereabouts is asked to call Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
  • On April 1, NOPD Second District officers arrested Tevis J. Stanton Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-16-2001) for armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, attempted armed robbery, attempted armed robbery with a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a CDS and possession of crack cocaine. The arrest came in connection with an armed robbery on March 22 in the 1200 block of Fern Street and in an attempted armed carjacking on January 18 in the 700 block of Howard Avenue.
  • On April 2, NOPD Third District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Max Gurtler (not pictured, white male, DOB; 04-15-1999) for armed robbery with a firearm. The warrant came in connection with an armed robbery incident on April 2 in the 600 block of City Park Avenue.
  • On April 2, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery with a firearm and illegal possession of stolen things. The arrest was made in connection with an armed carjacking on April 2 in the 2800 block of South Claiborne Avenue.
  • On April 2, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Nicholas M. Herbert Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-13-2004) for possession of stolen property, illegal carrying of weapons and carjacking. Also arrested were a 16-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery, a 15-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for illegal carrying of a weapon by a juvenile and a 16-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery, possession of stolen property and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The arrests came in connection with an armed robbery incident on April 2 at the intersection of North I-10 Service Road and Cove Drive.
  • On April 2, NOPD Seventh District officers detained two 17-year-old juvenile males (not pictured). One of the juveniles was arrested for armed robbery and possession of stolen property. The second juvenile was released to the custody of a parent. The arrest came in connection with an armed robbery incident on April 2 in the 10100 block of Lake Forest Boulevard.
