NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between April 3-10

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between April 3-10, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On April 6, the NOPD – assisted by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office -  arrested a 13-year-old juvenile male suspect (not pictured) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on March 31, 2022, in the 10000 block of Almonaster Avenue. The suspect was transported to the St. Bernard Parish Juvenile Center and later transferred to the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center in New Orleans, where he was booked on one count of second-degree murder.

Shooting

  • On April 7, NOPD Fifth District officers arrested Willard Walker Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-26-1958) shortly after the commission of an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on April 7, 2022, in the 5100 block of Saint Claude Avenue. Walker was charged with two counts of aggravated battery by shooting.
  • On April 10, NOPD Fifth District officers arrested two teenage juvenile black males (not pictured) on counts of possession of stolen property in connection with an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of Morrice Duncan Drive and Abundance Street on April 9. An arrest warrant was also obtained for a third teenage juvenile male, who was the victim of the shooting, for possession of stolen property. All three subjects were found to be in possession of a reported stolen vehicle at the time of the incident.

Other Significant Arrests

  • On April 9, NOPD First District officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male for possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The incident occurred on April 9 at the intersection of Ursulines Avenue and North Rocheblave Street.
  • On April 7, NOPD First District officers arrested Geouryon Sears (not pictured, black male, DOB; 09-10-1997) for illegal carrying of weapons. The incident occurred on April 7 in the 1400 block of Laharpe Street.
  • On April 6, the NOPD arrested Joshua Williams (not pictured, black male, DOB: 06-26-2003) in the 13100 block of Bishop Morton Drive, in the Seventh District. Williams was arrested after being observed operating a vehicle reported stolen from the Second District on March 21 and transporting reported stolen items in the vehicle. A search warrant for Williams’ residence revealed him to be in possession of two handguns, one of which was reported to be stolen; approximately 75 grams of marijuana; drug paraphernalia; a window punch; various vehicle key fobs, live ammunition; and a drum magazine for a handgun, along with other items commonly used in the commissions of burglaries. Williams was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center with possession of a stolen firearm, unauthorized use of a moveable, obstruction of justice, possession of stolen property, illegal carrying of a weapon and , and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
