NOPD Investigates Homicide on Lafaye Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Lafaye Street

NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place in the 5300 block of Lafaye Street.  

Tonight, April 20, 2021 at around 11:26 p.m., Third district officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Lafaye Street to a call of an aggravated battery. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive unidentified adult male lying down in the street. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the torso. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  

An adult male was detained for questioning. 

The investigation is on-going and detectives are attempting to determine a motive and a suspect(s) in the incident.  

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death.
