NOPD Investigates Homicide in Fifth District

New Orleans police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one adult male Monday evening (April 26) in the 2200 block of Bartholomew Street.

At around 6:27 p.m., Fifth District officers were called to the scene of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
