Suspect Arrested for Third District Armed Carjacking

On April 3, 2020, the NOPD arrested Messiah Thompson (pictured, DOB: 07-05-2001) in the investigation of an armed carjacking that occurred on April 2 in the 600 block of South Alexander Street.

At about 11:16 p.m., the victim was reportedly parked in her vehicle when four unknown armed perpetrators approached, threatened the victim and demanded her vehicle. The victim complied and the perpetrators fled in the victim’s vehicle in an unknown direction.

On April 3, the victim’s vehicle was spotted by NOPD Third District officers. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Thompson, fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

The three additional unknown perpetrators in this incident remain at large. Investigation remains active and ongoing.
