NOPD Investigating Homicide in the Fifth District

New Orleans - The NOPD is investigating a homicide that was reported today (April 9, 2020) in the Fifth District.

At about 12:54 p.m., NOPD Fifth District responded to a call of body found in the 2500 block of Port Street.  Upon arrival, officers found an adult unknown male victim with a gunshot wound(s).  No further details are available at this time. 

The NOPD’s Homicide Unit is in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and the official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
