Suspect Wanted for Third District Auto Theft, Simple Assault

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating the pictured subject after his alleged involvement in an auto theft and simple assault incident that occurred in the 3700 block of Clematis Street.

On April 21, 2019 at or around 12:27 p.m., the subject reportedly entered the victim’s vehicle that was left running. The subject then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle with her two children still inside.

The subject reportedly ordered the victim’s children to exit the vehicle and allegedly threatened to shoot them. The children complied and exited the vehicle near the intersection on Gladiolus and Clematis streets.

Officers reviewed surveillance video from this incident and positively identified Kentrell Locket (DOB: 01/23/2000) as the perpetrator. Lockett was previously stopped by the same officers a few hours earlier under suspicion of committing an auto theft.

Through further investigation, the victim’s vehicle was located on April 22, 2019 in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Kentrell Lockett should contact Third District detectives at 504-658-6030. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
