NOPD VOWS Unit, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Fifth District Shooting

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshals have arrested James Brown (DOB: 07-10-1990) in connection with an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of North Villerie Street on April 6, 2019.

In this incident, a juvenile female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle and an adult male victim suffered gunshot wounds to the arms.

Through investigation, NOPD Fifth District detectives were able to develop Brown as a suspect in this incident and obtain a warrant for his arrest.

NOPD VOWS Unit officers and U.S. Marshals located Brown at a residence in the 3600 block of Frenchman Street on April 23, 2019. A search warrant was conducted on the location, which revealed evidence linking Brown to the incident.

Brown was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for three counts of attempted second degree murder, along with counts of possession of a firearm by felon and illegal discharge of weapon.

Additionally, Brown was arrested on open warrants for home invasion, battery on dating partner, and simple criminal damage to property in connection with an incident that occurred on July 25, 2018.
