NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Seventh District Carjacking

NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Samuel Taylor (DOB: 12-25-1991) soon after a carjacking incident that occurred on April 25, 2019.

At 12:55 a.m., an NOPD Seventh District officer observed a white Toyota Corolla travelling against traffic in the 7000 block of Morrison Road. The officer observed significant damage to the driver side and side curtain airbags deployed. As the officer relayed the information, the dispatcher advised that the vehicle and license plate matched the victim vehicle of a carjacking that occurred in the 4500 block of Shalimar on April 25.

As the vehicle stopped due to its damage, the officer observed the subject – later identified as Taylor – move to the trunk of the vehicle and then flee on foot over fences into an adjacent residence after the officer verbally identified himself. Additional officers arrived on scene Taylor was positively identified as the perpetrator of the carjacking and arrested.

Taylor was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for carjacking and resisting an officer.
