NOPD Identifies Suspect in Seventh District Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment Incident

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Derrick Bracken (DOB: 07-27-1979) in connection with the investigation of an incident on April 23, 2019 in the 7100 block of Crowder Boulevard.

Through investigation, detectives determined that at about 8:00 a.m., Bracken and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. Bracken then allegedly placed his hands around the victim’s neck before allegedly hitting the victim with a glass bottle over her head. Bracken then reportedly placed a firearm in the victim’s back upon the arrival of police, which allegedly prevented the victim from making contact with officers out of fear that Bracken would injure her. Brackens later left the location, at which time the victim notified police a second time.

Bracken is currently wanted for aggravated assault (domestic), false imprisonment (armed) and domestic abuse battery.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Derrick Bracken is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070, or call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
