NOPD Arrests Suspect in Bomb Threats, Terrorizing Incidents

The NOPD has arrested Jahvar Hooks (DOB: 08-20-1983) in connection with numerous bomb threats and terrorizing incidents reported to NOPD throughout the city between March 31 and April 16, 2019.

NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers on patrol in the 400 block of Bourbon Street on April 16, 2019 at about 10:18 p.m. observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect in this incident. The officers detained and arrested the subject, later identified as Hooks, without incident.

Hooks had been positively identified as the suspected perpetrator of multiple instances of criminal mischief via phoning in false reports of shootings and gunfire which spanned across various NOPD districts. Further investigation by NOPD Eighth District detectives concluded that Hooks was also allegedly responsible for making multiple bomb threats via telephone aimed at various locations, including a threat focusing on the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court building on Tulane Avenue.

Hooks was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for terrorizing, 33 counts of communicating false information of planned arson and on 64 counts of criminal mischief.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080.
