NOPD Searches for Suspect Wanted in Carjacking Incident on Elysian Fields Avenue

Officers in the Third District are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a subject responsible for an unarmed carjacking that occurred on Sunday, (April 22).

The incident happened at or around 8:50 p.m. in the 3100 block of Elysian Fields Avenue. The victim exited his 2013 Nissan Maxima, leaving his keys in his cup holder and the door unlocked. Upon returning to his vehicle, the victim was approached by a male subject who reportedly threatened to “pop” the victim if he did not move away from the vehicle. The victim complied and moved away from the vehicle. The suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle, bearing Louisiana license plate #ZWW622, and fled the scene, heading toward I-610E.

The perpetrator is described as a stocky black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and stonewashed blue jean shorts.
