NOPD Searches for Suspect in Fourth District Theft Incident

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating Mimi Gaines (DOB: 05-16-1982) who is wanted for stealing a victim’s cellphone from the inside of her vehicle.

On Monday, (April 2) at or about 7:30 a.m., the victim parked her vehicle in the 700 block of Thayer Street. The victim sat inside the vehicle while waiting for her boyfriend, who was supposed to drive the victim to work that morning.

The victim observed a gray Hyundai Sonata pull up, where her boyfriend exited the vehicle. The victim then observed Gaines exit the driver’s seat, at which time Gaines and the victim engaged in a verbal altercation. Gaines then approached the victim’s vehicle, leaned in through the driver’s window, which was already rolled down, and grabbed the victim’s IPhone 7. The suspect then fled the scene with the victim’s phone in her possession.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to notify Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
