NOPD Investigating Homicide at South Claiborne Avenue at First Street

NOPD Investigating Homicide at South Claiborne Avenue at First Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (April 18, 2018) at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and First Street.

At about 3:37 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in the neutral ground and suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital via EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
