NOPD Investigating Fatal Double Shooting on Gentilly Boulevard

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that occurred today (April 1, 2018) in the 3100 block of Gentilly Boulevard that left one victim dead and a second injured.

At about 4:57 p.m., Third District officers responded to an initial call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a white vehicle belonging to one of the victims, who had already been transported to an area hospital via EMS suffering from an unspecified number of gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital..

Officers learned that the second male victim in this incident arrived at an area hospital via private conveyance for treatment of gunshot wound injuries. 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the decdent's official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
