The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Monday, (April 2) near the intersection of Toledano and Clara Streets.
Sixth District officers responded to a call of an auto accident at or around 6:15 p.m. During the investigation, officers learned that one adult female victim was walking eastbound on Clara Street when she stepped into the roadway and was struck by a brown SUV traveling southbound on Louisiana Avenue.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to the Traffic Unit for further investigation.
