NOPD Investigates Homicide on South Roman Street

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting incident that left one male victim dead and another female victim injured early this morning (April 18).

At around 4:53 a.m., Second District officers responded to shots fired in the 3600 block of South Roman Street. When officers arrived in the area, they saw an adult female victim with a gunshot to the finger. Officers then canvassed the area where they located an adult male victim in the middle of the street, lying next to a bicycle and suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, and the female victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
