NOPD Arrests Two Juvenile Suspects in Aggravated Assault on Walker Street

Detectives in the NOPD’s Third District, assisted by members of the NOPD’s Tactical Intelligence Gathering and Enforcement Response Unit (TIGER), have arrested two juvenile male suspects in connection with an aggravated assault incident which occurred in the 900 block of Walker Street on March 21, 2018.

The victim told police that at about 2:25 p.m., she had just returned home from the grocery and parked her white Audi Q5 next to her residence on Walker St. While carrying groceries from the vehicle into the residence, she said, she observed from her kitchen window an unknown black male enter the front passenger side door of her vehicle. The victim said she then observed another unknown subject inside the rear driver’s side compartment of her vehicle. The victim told police that she then opened the side kitchen door and yelled to the subjects to exit her vehicle and she was going to call police. The subjects then reportedly ran from the victim’s vehicle to a nearby black SUV. As one of the subjects entered the black vehicle, he allegedly fired one shot towards the victim before fleeing the scene. The bullet penetrated a door window and lodged into a wall inside of the residence. No injuries were reported.

On April 4, while conducting an unrelated auto theft investigation, TIGER Unit detectives arrested a male juvenile (DOB: 07-18-2002), who was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for illegal possession of a stolen vehicle. During the course of that investigation, the same juvenile and another juvenile (DOB: 10-02-2002) were positively identified as the perpetrators of the aforementioned aggravated assault incident on Walker Street.

On April 5, NOPD Third District detectives additionally charged the 15-year-old juvenile with aggravated assault with a firearm, in connection with the Walker Street incident.

On April 9, TIGER Unit detectives located the second juvenile (DOB: 10-02-2002) who was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for an outstanding warrant regarding a 2017 auto burglary. Based on the detectives having positively identifying the juvenile as being the reported gunman in the Walker Street incident, he was additionally charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, simple burglary, possession of a firearm by a juvenile and aggravated criminal damage to property.
