DNA Match Confirms Remains Found in New Orleans East belong to Jean Stokes

On Saturday, October 14, 2017, the New Orleans Police Department Homicide Section began further investigation into the disappearance of Ms. Jean Stokes. The death of Ms. Jean Stokes has now been ruled a homicide.

 

Stokes was reported missing by her family on October 13, 2017. Family members last had contact with Jean Stokes by phone on October 11, 2017.

 

Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory conducted DNA analysis comparison of Stokes DNA profile, to that of remains discovered in the Seventh District.

 

Analysis confirmed a match of Ms. Jean Stokes DNA profile to the DNA profile of the discovered remains.
