NOPD Quickly Arrest Suspect in Fourth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Vernon W. Crossley III (black male, DOB: 10-03-1991) moments after a reported shooting on September 29, 2023, in the 2600 block of General De Gaulle Drive that left one person injured.

At about 10:46 p.m. on September 29, NOPD Fourth District officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they located an adult male on scene having sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment. No information is currently available regarding the victim’s condition.

Officers on scene quickly detained a male subject, later identified as Crossley, who was identified after further investigation to be the perpetrator in this incident. The firearm believed to be used in the incident was also located on scene.

Crossley was subsequently arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for attempted second-degree murder, illegal carrying of a weapon and illegal use of a weapon.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
