NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in First District

NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in First District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on the evening of September 21, 2023, at the intersection of Saint Philip Street and North Claiborne Avenue that left a pedestrian dead.

At about 11:48 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at the location. Through further investigation, it was determined that a male pedestrian had been struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and determine official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
