The NOPD is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred this morning (September 25, 2023) on Interstate 10 East just before the Louisa Street exit at mile marker 238, that left one person dead and another injured.
At about 8:44 a.m., NOPD responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival and through further investigation, it was determined that a male and female were traveling in a vehicle East bound in the left hand lane of I-10, when the female driver apparently lost control and struck the left guard rail. The vehicle then swerved across all lanes and struck the right side guardrail, flipping the vehicle.
The driver, a 27-year-old unidentified female was pronounced deceased at the scene. A male passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is in unknown condition.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim and determine cause of death in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
