NOPD Identifies Suspects Wanted in First District Vehicle Theft

The NOPD has obtained arrest warrants for James Booze (pictured, black male, DOB: 06-15-1984) and Reba Bertrand (pictured, black female, DOB: 12-28-1981) in the investigation of a vehicle theft incident that occurred on August 16, 2023, in the 2000 block of Canal Street.

On August 16, the victim reportedly parked their white 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe bearing Louisiana license plate 713FBX in the 2000 block of Canal Street. The victim advised that the following morning, when they returned to where the vehicle was parked, they found the vehicle had been moved from the location without their permission.

As investigation into this incident progressed, NOPD First District detectives learned that on September 12, 2023, a subject identified as Bertrand reportedly attempted to sell the victim’s stolen vehicle to a scrapyard. Bertrand reportedly fled when the business notified her that the car had been reported stolen. Bertrand had attempted to sell the vehicle under a fraudulent bill of sale, signed by James Booze. The location of the stolen vehicle remains unknown.

When located, Booze and Bertrand will be arrested on charges of illegal possession of stolen things, forgery and for criminal conspiracy.

Anyone with additional information on this incident or on the whereabouts of Booze and/or Betrand is urged to contact NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010. Those wishing to report information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
