NOPD Arrests Suspect in Third District Vehicle Burglaries

On September 28, 2022, the NOPD arrested Malik Neeraj (male, DOB: 08-19-1995) in the investigation of two vehicle burglaries that occurred on September 26, 2022, in the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive. The arrest came through a cooperative effort with NOPD and members of the community.

On September 28, Third District detectives assigned to platoon responded to a call for service of a suspicious person detained by citizens. The person reportedly matched the description of the perpetrator of two recent vehicle burglaries in the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive. Once on scene, the detectives took custody of the detained suspect. Upon further investigation, the subject – identified as Neeraj – was positively identified as the perpetrator of the vehicle burglaries. Neeraj was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Detectives are investigating any possible connection Neeraj may have to additional incidents in the area.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to contact NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030.
