NOPD Arrests Subject for Illegal Carrying of Firearm in Eighth District

The NOPD arrested James Thompson (pictured, DOB: 05-14-1985) on September 18, 2019 after he was found to be in illegal possession of a firearm.

At about 10:37 p.m., NOPD Eighth District Task Force detectives encountered a male subject later identified as Thompson while in the 400 block of Bourbon Street. Upon suspicion that Thompson was in possession of a concealed firearm, officers stopped and searched Thompson. The search revealed a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the waistband of Thompson’s pants and under his t-shirt. Thompson was not in possession of a concealed carry permit.

Thompson was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal carrying of a concealed firearm.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080.
