NOPD Seeking Suspect, Person of Interest in Shooting on Canal Street

The NOPD is seeking to locate a suspect seen on video in commission of a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Canal Street on September 23, 2018, as well as a person of interest in the investigation.

An unknown black male subject is seen on video firing a handgun, allegedly injuring two bystanders. The subject then fled the scene on foot eastbound toward Exchange Place.

In addition, detectives are seeking to speak with an individual identified as a person of interest in this investigation. Jerry Harris (DOB: 06-06-1998) was reportedly engaged in an altercation in the area just seconds before the shooting occurred and was observed fleeing the scene in the same direction as the gunman.

Harris is not wanted in connection with this incident. However, detectives wish to question Harris, as they believe he has valuable information regarding this incident.
